I think that you'll be happier with the Super M. The Super M has live hydraulics, live PTO, and one smooth running engine. For mowing and other utility work, the foot clutch is a lot nicer than using the hand clutch all day long. If you want something with a wider variety of gears, look for a SMTA, or 400/450. A SMTA is a little harder to find and cost a little more because people like to collect them. There isn't all that big a difference in price between a SM and a 400 or 450. That TA comes in pretty handy. I like 2 bangers for collecting, but I think you'll appreciate the smoother running engine after using it a while. The suspension seat on the IH's give you less back aches than JD's seat.
