I like the idea you present. The primary element in a damp environment is the ground. If the tarp is wrapped onto the body like a leg warmer, and not draped to the ground it will be much better. The secondary issue is heat and cold cycling that breathes in warm moist air and lets it condense on the metal, freezing to the metal(or just being wet if above freezing) Minimizing air pockets can help this, but not eliminate it. Keeping it at a more uniform temp, shade might help this some. If you try it, check it several times for moisture and change tactics if it makes it worse. JimN
