When I first signed up for Medicare, I joined the Part C Humana Advantage plan at $0 cost per month plus the Medicare part B which costs $96 per month. Last year the Humana part went up to $18. This year they wanted $65 and I think that part of that increase is in anticipation of the Advantage Plan cuts which they want to make to help pay for the new health care. I switched to my local hospital which offers Senior Preferred Advantage Plan which looks somewhat better than Humana. I took the $34 per month plan plus still pay the $96 Medicare Part B. They also offer a $113 plan with lower co-pays. My wife will sign up in March and then with both of us taking the lower cost plans we will have almost $2000 a year in cost savings that we can use for the higher co-pays in case something should happen. I tell you, looking at all of the plans etc is mind boggling.
