I had some glasses that were getting bad. I really didn't know what was doing it. I am on town water. Then someone said to use a product called "Lemi Shine". According to the directions you fill one compartment with Lemi Shine and the other with regular dishwasher detergent. I actually use a teaspoon in each compartment and it keeps things clean and shiney. It does take a few washings to get everything back to normal. I thought I was going to have to throw some of the glasses away but they cleaned up like new.
