This in reply to teddy52food, My wifes cousin was enlisted in the first Minnesota light artillery and was killed at the battle of Shiloh....the first day. He had emigrated from Norway to Arhendal, in southeasten Minnesota, enlisted in the army in November 1861 and was killed in April 1862, the following spring. Pardon me if I don't have the dates quite correct. My great grandfather was enlisted in the 1st Pennsylvania light Artillery, Battery F. He was bugler so had a horse. He was in for the entire war but never wounded although he had the horse shot out from under him at least once. We have his diary which we took to Gettysburg and read as we stood on the very places he wrote about... really creepy! He saw the worst of it. Cal
