Hi Howard I went through this before christmas and found Brents method worked everytime with a bit of persperation.I used a piece of well casing faced at about 4" and a 3/8" plate slightly larger than the dia of the casing with a 1/2" hole in the centre for the top of the puller.A length of 1/2 13 threaded rod(bigger /better)and a stepped plug for the bottom of the bottom, some nuts and your in business. The plug i made 1/2"thick with the major o.d..005 less than the o.d of the sleeve.the minor o.d. should be about .005 less than the cyl. bore.Drill and tap to accept the rod.The trick is once you are set up,tension the puller then shock the bottom plug with a mallet and drift.I did 12 cyl with 100% success this way. lotsa luck Al p.s.carfull'round the crank
