Whatever the NH is, it's not Canadian. Don't blame us... I suspect it's got more TURK with a fiat heritage than anything else. It's a very basic tractor on the spec sheet. The Kubota is most likely made in Japan. It's a moderately high end tractor compared to the NH. I'd say they were in a different class entirely. A fair comparison for that Kubota would be in NH's T5000 class...
If I had to choose between them... it would be the Kubota without a thought really, especially for that money. The NH dealer is jerking you around with that pricing. The Kubota will come closer to dreaming about what your old Ford is. It won't do it, but it can think about it. The blue ba$tard can't.
I don't think you're looking at enough tractor for the hog either. If it's got a 1000 shaft, that's telling you it wants 75+ HP, not 60-65 which is what you're looking at. The 8040 Kubota would probably do or a T5050 NH... and I think I'd go with the Kubota again.
Seriously, I have no interest in ANY of these new tractors. Any 10 or 30 series Ford from the 80's-90's would eat the lot of them. If you need 1000 PTO, a 7610 or 7710 would be the clear ticket and would be twice the tractor. Keep in mind that the 8x8 shuttle in those Kubota's you're looking at was designed c. 1990 as a joint venture with Ford. Ford used it in the 30 series up to 62 HP/6000# class of tractor. I have one. It's a nice working transmission when it's not popping syncro's... Probably not a factor to what you're doing. Just don't shift it hard...
