What brand new tractor

I am looking to buy a new tractor to pull a 10' bush hog. I looked at the TT75A New Holland and the M7040SU Kubota tractor. Haven't checked out any Deers yet. I don't need a cab or air and heat, just want a good dependable tractor that I wont have to work on. Has any body owned one of these tractors or know of a better model please let me know. I just need a plain jane tractor that will last. The dealer I spoke to said I would probably have to go with a 4-wheel drive or put weights on the front of a 2-wheel drive. I looked at the New Holland and liked it. Kind of made like a 4000 Ford.

Deere makes a plain jane tractor its the 5000 series with gear transmission, 2wd and its about $17,000, comes with 2.9Liter diesel. Not too bad, that New Holland you mentioned is probably $40k or so aint it?

Go to the Deere website and look fer yerself.

go ahead and buy the new holland.then set aside any money that you think you saved and get ready to spend it on parts.

Go with the M7040 kubota, got one at work, good working speeds, good power. Friend has 5040. He had a deere, broke rearend housing, got a New Holland clutch pack blew up, got the kubota and loves it. He will work a tractor harder than anyone and has told me he should have bought Kubota sooner

The kobota 2wd was 19600- 4-wd 23400, the new holland was 21500 and 22500. Don't know why the Kobota was 4000 more on the 4wd and NH was only 1000?

Have had Kubota's around here and worked the daylights out of them for over 10 years now.Reliable, incredible cold starting, decent on fuel and so on.If a person thinks about it for a second, compare a straight no gear driven parts front axel,to a housing with planetary gears, shafts, bearings seals, oil, steering knuckles,do you really think it only costs 1000 more do do all that?My guess is New Holland just doesn't want to be in the 2wd business and for good reason's.They are worth much less for a trade in and are much harder to get rid of once they get them back.

If you want a good tractor look at those built in the 60s to 80s and make sure they don't have plastic body parts. Most any make would be a better tractor than those made today. Might need some work to get her going but hey that better than what it will take to keep the newer ones going.

One of the neighbors has a New Holland and has found some parts to be hard to get. Never met anyone who didnt like their Kubota. Ive not owned either but would favor a Kubota for the good rep.

couple years back i was looking for a 60 horse with loader to use on ranch and run my round baler...looked at Ford [or whatever theyre called this week] first and JD second...all freakin plastic and entirely too much money...wound up buying a Mahindra 6000 with 147 hours on it with a Great Bend loader, new 6' shredder, and a front mount bale spear for $15,300. delivered...about 400 hours later i've put a new battery in and changed oil/filters...its old technology with square cut gears and a lil hard to get on and off but that sucker is stout...outweighs the competition by at least a ton...i'd still buy it tommorrow.

I plan on looking at massey ferguson too. My bush hog has the 1100 pto and both the NH and KB I looked at were 540 pto shafts. I have a 60 model 3000 ford diesel that I have put through h-ll. It is a good tractor, wish it would handle the 10' hog. Are there any usa made tractors left? NH is canadian, where are Kubota's made?

My son has a smaller Kubota than what you're looking for. I've fallen in love with it. It has been trouble free. It's the first brand I'd look at if money was no object around here.

Whatever the NH is, it's not Canadian. Don't blame us...
I suspect it's got more TURK with a fiat heritage than anything else. It's a very basic tractor on the spec sheet.
The Kubota is most likely made in Japan. It's a moderately high end tractor compared to the NH. I'd say they were in a different class entirely. A fair comparison for that Kubota would be in NH's T5000 class...

If I had to choose between them... it would be the Kubota without a thought really, especially for that money. The NH dealer is jerking you around with that pricing. The Kubota will come closer to dreaming about what your old Ford is. It won't do it, but it can think about it.
The blue ba$tard can't.

I don't think you're looking at enough tractor for the hog either. If it's got a 1000 shaft, that's telling you it wants 75+ HP, not 60-65 which is what you're looking at.
The 8040 Kubota would probably do or a T5050 NH... and I think I'd go with the Kubota again.

Seriously, I have no interest in ANY of these new tractors. Any 10 or 30 series Ford from the 80's-90's would eat the lot of them.
If you need 1000 PTO, a 7610 or 7710 would be the clear ticket and would be twice the tractor.
Keep in mind that the 8x8 shuttle in those Kubota's you're looking at was designed c. 1990 as a joint venture with Ford. Ford used it in the 30 series up to 62 HP/6000# class of tractor. I have one. It's a nice working transmission when it's not popping syncro's... Probably not a factor to what you're doing. Just don't shift it hard...

Here is an econo plain vanilla machine that you can't burn the clutch out of.

If I was looking for a tractor to just use with a 10' bushhog, for my bush hog uses I would look for a tractor a little bigger than the NH you are looking at. A quick look at external_link says it is about the same hp and half the weight of my 6700. Mine is turned up to a little over 80hp and with weights on the front and filled back tires there are places I have had mine into that will make you pucker up pretty quick. Also, just clipping pastures in 5th gear and thick patch of crabgrass will dang near kill it. If your are just clipping grass on a field that is table top flat 75 hp will do fine but I would want more if I was in the market.

While not plain jane, I just bought a Case /IH 95 (82 PTO) with a 15 ft batwing hog, quick change front loader, bucket and front and back bale spikes.
It is a machine :)
Peak at one before you go NH or Kubota

Just bought a Kubota M8540 with cab. Looked at Deere's 5085M and was not impressed. Deere was $17,000 more and the engine is a LOT louder on the Deere(even in the cab). Ended up buying a RTV1100 with a cab for my father to go along with the tractor and still spent less than if I had bought the Deere. Have 25 hrs. on the Kubota and I am pleased with it. I think it is the better tractor and definately the best deal for the money plus Kubota is offering 0% for 60 months if you need it.

We have a 471 Massey pulling an 8 foot hog and it could easily handle more. It is used in the mountains around Boone NC and some of the hills are very steep. I leave the loader on and put several very large rocks in the bucket. It is 4 WD and a very good tractor. Its our 2nd Massey. Parts are easy to come by and its easy to work on but in 4 years we haven't had any problems. I also like the Mahindra and probably would have bought one except the dealer was a lot farther away. I really like my Kubota, definitely a manufacturer for consideration. I farm and use a M125 now and it's great. Was $15,000 less than a Deere and doesn't offer anything less, probably even more. We're on our fifth one at our business, use a 5740 hydro now. The third one had a transmission issue I remember, but no other problems. I even had a guy from the factory come by my shop when I had a question on my 125, I was impressed.

Talked to the dealer today, said since my pto was 1100 speed that I would have to go with a more expensive tractor. I guess I will look into gitting my 7700 lift fixed. Thanks all.

Got M7040 4wd with the hyd shuttle and a loader on it. Got 360 hours on it and overall I really like it.
