I like giving bean counter a hard time any chance I can, but there are physical reasons why 12V are better than 6V. It has to do with Ohm's Law. Power = Voltage X Current, this means you need twice as much current for a 6V system to get the same power as 12V. Keep that thought -- Twice the current. The next thing to remember is Voltage Drop = Current X Resistance, this means that with a 6V system you will have twice the voltage drop at all the resistance points (connections, cables,etc.). With only 6V to start with your electrical system has to be kept in very good condition. It is not as robust as a 12V system. Electrical Power Plants transmit power at very high voltage (thus lower current) for this same reason -- less power is loss in transmission.

New Hitches For Your Old Tractor - by Chris Pratt. For this article, we are going to make the irrational and unlikely assumption that you purchased an older tractor that is in tip top shape and needs no immediate repairs other than an oil change and a good bath. To the newcomer planning to restore the machine, this means you have everything you need for the moment (something to sit in the shop and just look at for awhile while you read the books). To the newcomer that wants to get out and use the machine for field work, you may have already hit a major roadblock. That is the dreaded "proprietary hitch". With the exception of the
