Come see Wisconsins "East Coast" along the lovely shores of Lake Michigan. Go up to Door County, see "Deaths Door" - the crossing to Washington Island. Drive up and around the top of the Lake, see Michigan from top to bottom and then down to Illinois where you could check out the Shed Aquarium, Field Musuem, Museum of Science and Industry, etc. Could probably make a nice round trip out of it.
From where I am (Manitowoc) I would probably take our ferry across and then head to Connecticut, Rhode Island, etc.

In July of 1998 I was talking to fellow Allis Chalmers collector Mike Schilling about the annual "Gathering of The Orange" AC show coming up in August of 1999.
