My 1978 john deere 2840 was bought at a auction & the tractor was said to work. After i bought it i found that the pto,power steering and 3 point hitch didnt work. I took the front pump to a shop to be rebuilt and had the transmission pump replaced. It all worked for about 30 min and then the steering started working slow and the 3 point started to creep up and down. The shop said it was probably the filter i replaced it and nothing changed they then said that the front pump might have some thing stuck in it. I dont know but im nt puting any more money into it i had to buy anouther tractor to finish my hay. i have over $5,500 in this tractor. Not sure what to do next. HELP !
