Can you turn the stove "on" and let the heaters warm up before the stove tries to fire?
They don't like to be turned off and get cold. The best thing may be to leave it run all the time and at most just lower the temp. when you are not there.
Most have instructions such as the min. temp. for your oil tank and require the tank to be in the warm shop and not sitting outside in the cold with a line to the shop.
Waste oil furnaces can work well, but they are high maint. and we have had them for 20+ years.
