I currently work in a small welding shop where they used to put up buildings all the time. We still make rafters for local farmers but dont set up anymore. Id say the weakest point will be the welds. Weld the joints then plate them and weld again. Rectangle tubing is much easier to build rafters out of but if you have the pipe go for it. The more flat iron you use the less coaping youll have to do. One of our open sided buildings is set on 6in pipe 10 ft o.c. 18 ft to eves. The open side has 25 ft btw poles with a header to span the gap made from a 6in pipe with a 3 inpipe below it spaced about 6in between and pipe spacers every 2ft.. Building is 60 X 120 and has stood several years. Have fun.
