probably was not an IHC, as they did not need a pony to start their diesel, which was out 15 years before JD.this was the WD40 mcormick deering that started on gas and then after running a while to warm up it switched over by itself to diesel,through a trip mechanism after so many revolutions.this was the only model tractor to have this feature other than the tractractors of the same era.the later WD9 up to the 650 were manual switch over to diesel.it was a good system and worked well properly maintained.then when the 560 came out it had glow plugs to start its 6 cyl. engine .
