Go Zeke has it wrong. Check your coil. Does it have a resistor wired to it? If so, it is a 6 volt coil and you can use it if you take out the resistor. No resistor, then you will need to get a 6 volt coil. Check the polarity of the coil as John T stated. You will need a 6 volt regulator. Don't worry about the pos or neg regulator but be sure you do not get a Ford regulator, they use a different way to regulate the field. The starter may still be a 6 volt starter that was run on 12 volts. If the starter turns very fast on 12 volts it is likely a 6 volt starter and you can use it as is. Poloarize the gen like John T said not what Go Zeke said. Replace the light bulbs to 6 volt.
