I guess I'm of the really "old" (ie steam) school, I never thought about even using sandblasting. "IF IT DON'T RUN, PAINT IT!"...If you intend to use it, and get it dirty, then shiny paint isn't all that important anyway.
I vote for more "period" restorations..like from the early years of the hobby...bring back "close enough" paint, even occasionally applied right over stubborn crud, and those hand painted "decals", And there REALLY isn't a darn thing wrong with rippled and dinged sheet metal or boogered welds....lets leave the fill and multi coat paint with wax jobs for hot rods again! No I'm not being sarcastic, I am actually growing tired of looking at so many OVER restored tractors... :(
