Many early 6 volt farm tractors were Positive ground i.e. the batterys POS post went to frame ground.......... If you want to rewire yours from 12 to 6 volt Pos ground:
Change to 6 volt battery....with its POS grounded..........Id use 00 gauge Battery n Starter n Ground cables
Get a 6 volt Generator and a 6 volt Voltage Regulator thats suitable for POS ground
Use a 6 volt coil
Match the coil for Pos ground i.e. its lil - wires to Ign switch while its + to distributor
If it has an ammeter and it reads backwards, its leads may need reversed. Depends on how it was wired before
BEFORE STARTING POLARIZE THE GENERATOR
Momentarily flash jump a wire from its BAT terminal to its ARM/GEN terminal and you should get a spark.
NOTE:: DO NOT flash jump to the gennys FLD post Do as I posted above
You need a 6 volt starter for 6 volts IT WILL TURN THE SAME DIRECTION REGARDLESS OF BATTERY POLARITY
