I have 38 quarters in SS and will never flush anouther penny down that sewer. As a California 1937 Act employee I am exempt. I won't miss SS, I am a 3@50 safety employee. I am not saying that CalPers and my county retirement system dosen't have problems, but its is 100,000 times as secure as SS. Unlike SS, I paid my share, and unlike SS, there is actually a CalPers fund backing it up. I also will have 2 health cares for life, one from the Fire Dept I work at now and one from the Sheriff dept that I am disabled from. If medicare went away tomorrow I am fine. What I am mostly glad about is we all get to choose what we do for a living and get to experience the consiquences of those decisions.
