She is drawing SS disability, a secondary part of SS but she doesn't have too be 65 plus to collect benefits like a normal retirement. When you get disability SSA, it's like you turned 65yo that day, and that's what your benefits are based upon.
2yrs after your disability date, then you get Medicare.
At 65yo, SSA will probably switch her too normal retirement ( comes out of a different fund) from what I've been told, regardless of the retirement age requirement.
Can she get more if she files a new claim at 65? That's possible from what I here. This might be too her advantage as she was 55 when injured. Check into it. Call SSA or see a specialized attorney for disability SSA as that's very complex and not easy understood.
