For everyday use I carry an Imperial brand Barlow style of knife. They are cheap so I can abuse them when needed without guilt. The Imperial brand seems to hold a pretty good edge but is also just soft enough that it sharpens easily.
The plating on the handle is wearing through on the one I am currently carrying so I haven't abused it too badly.
I have a Case and an Old Timer that I carry when I know that I won't be doing any rough work with them. Sort of alternate between the two. Both gifts.
