Thanks for the tip. It turns out that someone long before we got the tractor had laid a strip of weld in the key way of the axle where the wheel fit against it. The problem was there was still a bit of the key on the wheel so you could slide the wheel off the axle without removing the pillow block completely. Once he got the pillow block out, everything came apart okay. We controlled the weight of the wheel and tire with a sling and the front end loader. A few bruises but no real injuries. Thanks again.
