How could it go bad if it is unopened? I found cans like that in my granfathers basement when we cleaned the house out after he died, they were Valvoline, and Sears "Spectrem" or something like that. I used them in my Dakota and it was fine. Hardest part was finding a way to open them. Years ago we had a spout that you broke the metal top open with, and then poured out the oil. But its long gone now..
