I did exactly this a few years ago on my WD wheel. If the wheel is basically sound except in the repair area, and the area is cleaned free of rust, the repair will be nearly as strong as the original wheel. I certainly don't believe 15 lbs of pressure is going to "blow" it. John's comment is definitely uncalled for!!
