I'd be careful about using a rim that's in poor shape. I saw a rusted through rim blow apart one time, even at the low pressures used in a tractor it almost blew a door right off the hinges. Another time friend of mine was mounting a new rear tire on a good rim when the tire's bead broke; the air blast threw him against the wall and knocked him out. Think how much horsepower the air compresser uses and how long it has to pump to fill a tire, that's a lot of stored up energy...
