Some you just can't let borrow, just the way it is, others respect and treat is as if they owned it.
I never realized but it's fairly common for farmers to kind of share, borrow, rent out around here, as the crop lands are kind of spread out, and or sometimes a situation occurs that requires it.
The farmer I've been helping does this, with his 6620 JD combine, and his 7420 JD with the 582 round baler, usually hired out, but reasonable, farmers still kind of work together. When the baler goes out, there is an experience hand on it if it's not him, but the combine he usually runs himself. Nearby dairy operation, 500 head, quite a bit of equipment, lost a combine to fire, he did their 200 acres that was not chopped. Works both ways, they would do the same for him. Whenever something does go out, it's clean, fueled up, greased and field ready, and is expected to be returned like that.
