I'm just 15 miles west of Binghamton right on the NY/PA border. In fact, as I look out my front window, PA is just on the other side of the hiil across the valley. (Should have settled in PA rather than in NY but we have what we want right here and at our ages we will stay put "for the duration" even though it means putting up with our wonderful NY politicans and their excrement.)
We can get cold weather when the jet stream decides to dip down and visit us but lake effect snow from Ontario almost never affects us. Big dumps come from Noreasters that are born in the Gulf of Mexico or off the south east coast of the Atlantic and then track up the East coast. When one of those heads our way with some moisture and meets some cold air pulled down by the jet, we really get dumped on.
