When I farmed, I had only a mile and a half to the elevator, but there was a steel bridge tagged 14 ton along the way.
I had two gravity wagons I pulled together with a D19 and could scale close to 700 bushels. I'd cross that bridge grossing 46,000 to 48,000 pounds. The bridge held, but by rights I should have been in the Blue River.
The bridge has since been replaced with a new pre-stressed concrete one. Semis go over it now. I also once crossed the old one with a combine. I think I had about an inch on each end of the header.
