Doesn't surprise me that the tag is faded beyond reading. Nearly all those trailers live outside and the sun really does a number on them.
There should be a V.I.N. on the inside of one of the I-beams underneath, usually it is added by running beads of weld, but the V.I.N. won't tell you what you want to know either.
A tandem axle, single wheel with 8 bolts almost always indicates 7,000# per axle or 14,000# for the trailer.
