I think Yanmar quit selling U.S. models in the late 70's or early 80's. They begin building the compact JD's in the early 80's(JD 650,750, 850 etc)With the JD contract Yanmar agreed not to sell in the U.S. I owned a 1977U.S. Yanmar YM155 4WD. The U.S. models were three number(ex. YM 135,155,169,189 etc) where as the grey market were 4 number(ex. YM1100,1300, 1401, 1501,1610etc) The later grey Yanmars were the F and FX series (F22, FX22 etc) I now have a grey YM1401. Yanmars are great tractors that are cheap power. Parts availability is good especially the YM series. Buy from a reputable dealer and stay away from the Viet Nam rebuilds. Yanmar now builds the Yanmar Cub Cadet.
