I was fortunate. My '50 (pictured) ran when I bought it a couple weeks ago. I drove it 75 miles home, mostly on freeway, past some of the most yuppie-infested areas of Seattle. I learned the most important thing is to have good brakes, so make sure you bleed them before you drive off, and lights, especially brake lights and turn signals.
