I've done this in the past with a Ford 5000 I owned. I simply used bushings in the lower links and bought a top link that was Cat 2 on one end and Cat 1 on the other. My new JD5105 came with both Cat 1 and Cat 2 lower link balls and they can easily be changed. I've never had a problem with this arangement.
