Skid steer vs small loader/backhoe

Hi, I'm starting a new fruit farm in upstate NY. I've got a '53 Ford Jubilee NAA, which is fine for about half of my 50 acres, but the other half is sloped and requires something with more horsepower and safety. I also need to dig drainage ditches and a pond. I'm looking for a machine that can terrace out the sloped field, so I can maintain it with the cheaper Ford. A bigger skidsteer with rubber tracks does the job nicely, but the low clearance and possible high maintenace costs concern me. I've seen older backhoe/loaders advertised in the same price range. Anyone have any experience in choosing between the 2? I'll be growing grapes and berries.
