Steve, I can believe that anti-freeze will run a little hotter in a thermo-siphon system because it is thicker & doesn't flow quite as easily. On the up side antifreeze can be run hotter because it boils at a higher temp. You might try to drive it the same 2 miles & see if it runs cooler or idle it with water & see if it runs hotter, a true A/B test would use the same operating parameters for both tests. As a last thought test the antifreeze & adjust the percentage of water until you get the mix as close to water as the coldest temperature in your area will allow.
