Just a note to bring everyone up to date. I replaced the fan bearing and reassembled the tractor. I filled the radiator with straight water. After warming up the tractor by driving it about 2 miles at full throttle in 2nd gear, the guage showed just shy of 170F. I checked the temp with a candy thermometer and it read 160F. I drained the water after cooling and filled it up with a 50/50 mix. (This was pre-mixed before I put it in the radiator.) I again started the tractor. (Ambient temp was cooler at this point than when I ran it on straight water.) After about 30 minutes of mainly idling, the temp rose to 200F! This was verified by the candy thermometer. Is this unusual for this little engine to run cooler on water than anti-freeze?
