In my opinion; your best setup would be to get some isolation between your truck batteries and the trailer battery. J.C.Whitney, Sears and many others sell a unit that hooks from your alternator to the truck battery(s) and the trailer battery. This allows the alternator to charge both systems without any interaction. The basic problem, if the batteries are directly connected, is that the regulator for the alternator will sense the condition of the better battery (which gets charged quicker) and tells the alt. that the system is fully charged, leaving the poorer battery less than charged. This is presently happening with the pair of truck batteries and is why it is recommended that you replace both truck batteries at the same time. There are other ways to do what you want but I recommend this way.
