Today I dug the old Deere RW 14' disk out of the grass ao I could disk up about an acre of corn I sprayed with the wrong herbicide. (yes, I'm embarrased and it's right by the road) The disk kind of a family heirlom of sorts as dad bought it new in 1958 and has been on the farm ever since. A bearing was siezed up on a gang so I dropped the gang and pulled the bearings and blades off. Found out bearings are $66 apiece and they're all bad or going bad as they are the origionals, and so are the blades. It's not worth replacing $800 worth of bearings plus another couple hundred for blades on a $35 disk that is used once every three years, so I guess an old family friend has to go. Whadda ya think of removing all the gangs and putting a blade on it for light grading?Jim
