Glad to hear from you again glennster; starting to worry about you.

I'll compare some of what you've said with my experience with our Krone round balers:

  • if the twine knives are dull, two rolls of twine are used up tying one bale.
  • if you windrow too big, the baler pushes hay to the top of the tractor seat.
  • if the automatic twine tie works perfectly at the shop, it fails on the first bale in the field.
  • if you have two 13mm wrenches, put three of them in the twine box.
  • if I'm thinking about using Nancy's 48A to run a baler, best not to mention it to her.
  • as soon as you get the hay raked and start baling, somebody drives onto your field and asks if you want to sell it.
  • a dead stray cat really smells bad in your hay barn.
  • pulling out a large, stuck round bale by yourself without hay hooks is a pain in the butt. i now understand the logic in square bales!!!!!!
  • the baler doesn't like sharp left or right turns, everything chatters.
  • people that show up, volunteer information on how you're baling it the wrong way.
  • Good to hear from you again.

Hope you and your family have a good 4th of July; be safe.

Today's Featured Article - Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point ... [Read Article]
