We put plate on rails of c 3500 with ball welded to plate dont hahve to remove bed take out front 4 bolts and raise bed [loosen fuel filler] when i take ball out i put some grease down in nut had no problems. Dont cut any corners on a ball .the peace of mind ofsets the extra a ''good'' ball cost.
