MTD does make YardMan, but Sears lawn tractors have been built by four different companies that I know of, with the majority built by AYP (American Yard Products) which also makes Yard Pro, Poulan Pro, Roper, Rally, and lots of chain store brands, or Murray, which usually sells under their own brand. I have found Sears mowers to be generally disposable, mostly due to exorbitant parts prices.
