To all of you who have responded to my questions so far, thanks ! Here are some more: 1) what's the ideal oil for a Ford 8N ? and how much ? 2) should there be oil in the inner ring of "pan" below the air filter as well as the outer ring ? 3) compressions test for 8N: what do I need to know ? 4) "E118" on engine block means what ???? 5) can I use tractor for another ten hours to finish remaining fields and then deal with serious problems , or will I cause irreparable harm and need to tend to them now ? 6) This tractor is noisy: what kind of new muffler would cut down on noise and would the change be worth the price ? 7) some bolts were less than tight and two were missing under engine block and oil filter...do I need to get Ford bolts or can I improvize. Loose ones have been tightened. Amazing the things you discover when you crawl around under a tractor ! Best, CR
