True. I'm not aware of any US memorials to our allies in any past wars, although I wouldn't be surprised to find that there's a monument to Lafayette somewhere. But I would point out that Australia, S. Korea and the UK still have countries in which they can erect all the monuments they want. The South Vietnamese no longer have a country, at least not one that lets them build memorials to their war dead.
Now I've heard that the South Vietnamese troops served less than honorably. I don't know, I wasn't there. But when I visited the Vietnam War memorial, I didn't see asterisks next to any of the names to indicate those whose conduct was not honorable. It seems sufficient that they died in the service of their country. Is it too much to let the Vietnamese have a memorial to their countrymen who died in the same conflict?
