I rebuilt the 6-71 Detroit in a friends 35 ton Grove crane back in 03-04 as repayment for some tree work. We were jaw jacking one time during a break and I asked him what he thought it weighed? His reply was much like one of the above. It was somewhere in the neighborhood of 74-75,000 lbs. It was an adventure to rebuild because you had to have a six foot stepladder tied to the right side of the unit to get up and down off of the fender and access the top of the engine . Clearnce under it was no problem as they picked up the front with the outriggers. Oh and this was a tandem front steer unit.
