Jim WI- The gimmick on that resistor is based on that you flip on the switch and hit the starter button. That ceramic clad nichrome wire resistor takes a minute or so to heat up and limit the applied voltage & current. 'Till it does, the coil is getting full power and the spark plugs are getting big time power, during the first minute or so and during engine warm up. Real clever and real effective... Cars and trucks used a separate full battery power feed circuit during cranking, that soon as you let the key switch go from crank to run the coil got power only thru the resisitor. Someplace in there the ceramic resistor design was replaced by just using nichrome wire, instead of copper, in the wire harness between the switch and the coil. Be thankful for the GM HEI electronic ignition system, that came out around 1974, and has been replaced by the computer stuff now. That module and coil can be adapted to many systems, as long as it has a magnetic trigger wheel and pickup. Hope this post helps comprehension. IHank

He owned a small sawmill for sawing "baccer" sticks. The Super A was the powerplant. When I was old enough (7 or 8), I would get up early and be dressed to
