In Michigan, we had an emissions test years ago. Think it cost $5. But it was rescinded. As others have said, it's a scam and designed to make money for the state AND the repair facilities with little positive impact. Just another intrusion by government in our daily lives. As for safety, if a car REALLY is a danger on the roads, there are laws on the books that allow a cop to pull it over and even impound it.
Our socialist politicians and officials will continue to create more and more laws that are "for our own good" when it all it really does is build their empires and create jobs for their cronies.
