Well to tell you the truth I bought the tractor AS IS and this is what is wrong with it. Actually the inspection plate on the bottom of the housing is missing and I can shine a light up in there and see the shaft that throws the trans in forward or reverse. It seems to have a slotted end with a pin through it with cotter pins holding it in. The whole part of the shifting mechanism that makes up to this slotted shaft is missing. Only the hole in the top of the bell housing is there. How does it make up to the slot? Is it the tiny roll pin that probably broke? I am having a hard time explaining the part I need to the local (Reno) Ford tractor dealer. Again do I need to split the tractor? I assume yes from your reply. Anyway thanks for your input. Sincerely Jeff
