I suggest that 'safety' inspections are just another way to generate money. Some of the cities in TN require an annual inspection, but for us country folks, there's nothing. If your vehicle has (muliple) parts falling off, the Highway Patrol might pull you over or they'll 'get' you for missing head/tail/brake lights. Can't remember when I heard of an accident caused by a failure of vehicle components; it's always driver error. Know less than nothin' about smog..........
