It was 10 years ago this very minute when the doorbell rang and a police office greeted me at the door. This poem is especially for you Les, because I know you read Tractor Talk every day.

The Big Boy

It seems like yesterday
When we sat and talked about your future and your Biker’s Poker Run the next day.
It seems like yesterday
When that evening, I stood at the door saying “see you later and drive carefully.”
It seems like yesterday
When you hopped on your Harley, smiled, waved, and said “I will!”
It seems like yesterday
When you rode out of the driveway, pulling back the throttle just enough to make that Harley hum!
It seems like yesterday
When early in the morning we met the officer at our door.
It seems like yesterday
When we got the news that you had been in a bad accident.
It seems like yesterday
When you didn’t get a chance to go on your bike ride after all.
It seems like yesterday
When we had to decide on your pallbearers.
It seems like yesterday
When the hundreds of people lined up to pay their last respects.
It seems like yesterday
When Brad read the beloved poem written just for you.
It seems like yesterday
When my Little Tony held me close while I silently cried.
It seems like yesterday
When our family and friends tried to console us.
It seems like yesterday
When your “brothers” from far and near formed an incredible biker’s motorcade, to escort you to your final resting place.
It seems like yesterday
When we had to say our last good bye to you, Brian.
It seems like yesterday
When your little girl was so bewildered without daddy.
It seems like yesterday
When I saw you riding a Harley through the clouds with God by your side.
It seems like yesterday,
When you left us, but it was 10 years ago today.
Yes, it seems like yesterday
When I cried a river, wishing you were here.
Oh my---- It was yesterday!

You will always be in our hearts, and we will always love you, Brian Stephens!

******Mom and all your loving family*******

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
