I posed this same question a year or 2 ago on this forum. Mine is an 89' F-150 with the Mazda 5 speed stick. I got enough opinions to make me call Lucas and ask them. They (Lucas engineering) said to drain the gearbox and refill with Lucas synthetic or any other GOOD quality synthetic automatic transmission fluid and add 1 quart of Lucas automatic transmission conditioner. Do Not use heavier gear oil. Mine has 214,000 miles on it and so far so good. The yoke on my rear differential came loose on mine. Replaced the nut with lock tight and torqued to spec, so far so good also.
