I had some nasty grime in the carpet of my F-150, and used "Blue Coral" foaming upholstery cleaner. I believe I got it at WalMart. Spray it on , scrub it in with a stiff brush and let it set until it dries, then vacuum it off. Repeat as needed. Left me with carpet on my 13 year old truck (with 240,000 miles) that looked brand new on the passenger side. Helped a lot on the drivers side, too, but the carpet was too worn out to make it look new. It also worked on Coke spills and salsa spills on the seats.
