Sugar in the Tank

My brother's tractor got sugared in the fuel tank. It is a diesel AC 5050 with a CAV fuel system. The primary filter is full of sugar. The secondary has just a little sugar. He drove it just a little before he discovered the problem. He knew there was a problem because it would not start with the starter. He had to pull it. He has changed the filters and cleaned out the fuel tank. Should he expect engine damage from this act of vandalism? Is there anything else that he needs to do with his tractor?
